There and Back Again

***Sometime in the evening Ian McKellen brought up the rumor that Tom Cruise is gay. Well it was more like bringing up Tom’s publicist’s response to the rumor, saying Tom is not and was never gay. After reading this statement, Sir Ian made this funny expression on his face that was a mixture of disgust, confusion and ridicule. Sir Ian went on to comment that the statement doesn’t say anything about Tom’s sexual orientation in the future and that not being and having never been gay is Tom’s loss.

***He was asked what his favorite role was. He paused, as if to think, and then he said: Swiss roll, Rolls Royce. He’s too witty. Seriously, he said he likes all of his movie roles. Whatever it is he’s working on at that time is his favorite.

***At the beginning of the show he was auctioning off the Frodo Lives cap. He asked one lady how much she was willing to pay for it and she said, “a big hug!” Sir Ian made this funny face as if saying, “that’s not enough” or “honey, don’t you know I’m gay?”

***At one point he was getting ready to drink from his bottled water. He asked how many of us drink mineral water. He went on to tell us a story that a few years ago it was announced that regular tap water contains fluoride, the same fluoride which you find in toothpaste and is lacking in bottled mineral water. I can’t quite remember his punch line but he said something along the lines of it’s a good thing the rich ones are the ones who drink the bottled water cause they’re the ones who can afford the dental bills. (I’m assuming most of those who raised their hands were in the $150 seats.) Regular folks (like him) need not worry cause they drink tap water.
