1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
I have lots of favorite musicians so I can’t really name one, I have to name three. As you can tell from previous blog entries, you’ll know that one of them is Keith Urban. The other one is John Mayer and third one is the now defunct (?!) Backstreet Boys. Eclectic bunch, don’t you think?
2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
As in #1, I can’t name just one, I have to name at least three (though there’s definitely more than three). The top three are: Limp Bizkit (pretentious prick), Blink 182 (a bunch of no-talents who like to make fun of pop acts they can’t compete with talent- and record sales-wise) and Justin Timberlake (don’t even ask me to elaborate).
3. If your favorite singer wasn’t in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
I wouldn’t know because I don’t really know much about what they are like outside of their musical career. Keith Urban’s pretty good looking, I might still have a crush on him even if he wasn’t famous. Maybe the same with Kevin Richardson (of the Backstreet Boys). As for John Mayer, maybe not so much. Based on interviews I’ve read, he sounds like the guy who will annoy me with his righteousness and smarter-than-thou attitude. I only like the guy cause he plays a mean guitar and writes lovely songs.
4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
My concert experience is limited to the following artists: Backstreet Boys, Jewel, Eric Benet, Keith Urban and Itzhak Perlman (?). All these artists put on a good show. Definitely worth the concert tickets.
5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from downloading free music?
The RIAA needs to recognize that downloading and swapping music is now the trend. I wouldn’t want to rob the artists of their profit, but alas! if there was a cheaper, more flexible option to obtaining music, consumers would definitely take that option. The RIAA and the artists need to find new means and ways to keep up with the times, make consumers happy and still make money.
