I was told that today is the first day of autumn but it hardly feels like it outside. It’s not as hot as yesterday but still, 82 degrees F is still a little too hot for me. I want the cold mornings to return so I can use my scarves again. I want the foggy, cloudy days to return so that my midmorning walks become pleasant again. And most of all, I want the holidays to finally get here…
I spent the whole day today camped in my boss’ office going through all our appeal documents. As I have mentioned previously, our office is facing multiple Civil Service Commission appeals. We appear before the Commission in a week, hoping they would deny the appellants’ request for a hearing. So the last two weeks - weekends included - have been spent writing responses to 26 of those appeals. In my write-up, I had to detail and validate the examination process, prepare a job analysis and a mini-CV for my subject matter experts, pull from file and duplicate rating sheets, and summarize the appellants’ test results. It would have been a fairly easy write-up to do if I had nothing else to worry about. Unfortunately for me, while all this was going in, I had to conduct several days of Civil Engineer interviews, screen applications for 104 Administrative Assistant candidates and 80+ Elections Specialist candidates. The last two weeks has to be, bar none, the busiest and most stressful days of my life. AND I AM GLAD IT’S ALMOST OVER! Or is it? I don’t know what tomorrow’s fax is going to bring in. Maybe more appeals? Anyway, I’m being optimistic that the worst part is over. We just wait for the Commission’s decision and hope they deny all requests for a hearing…
Alias Season 3 starts on Sunday. FINALLY! Although it will be depressing to watch Agent Michael Vaughn (played by the lovely Michael Vartan) be married to a woman other than Agent Sydney Bristow (played by the adorable Jennifer Gardner), it should be interesting to see how JJ Abrams will rock our worlds again with his out-of-this-world twists and turns…
SF 49ers - Losers! They just totally screwed themselves up in last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Good ole 49ers. I guess it wasn’t Steve Mariucci’s fault we sucked last year, after all…
Bring on the Recall Election and let’s show them the stuff California voters are made of. I can hardly wait to see Ahh-nold lose to a resounding vote of NO…
The big 30 is a month away!
