The last time (and first time) I saw Keith Urban in concert, my seat was way in the back of the auditorium. My sister and I, being hobbit-like in height, saw most of the show behind giant heads of taller people sitting in front of us. An unblocked view of the stage and Keith’s guitar-strumming antics was hard to come by what with all the cowboy-hat-wearing groupies who couldn’t sit still destroying the view. So my sister and I vowed to get front row seats the next time we get an opportunity to see him.
Well today was the day tickets to his Las Vegas concert went on sale. Naturally, we aimed for front row seats. Since we live in CA and a short trip to Vegas was not an option, the telephone was our only weapon. The plan was to take a break from work a few minutes before 10 AM (when box office phone lines open up), meet up somewhere since our office buildings are right next to each other, and contact Hilton Las Vegas on our respective cell phones. Whoever gets through first orders the best seat in the house. Simple and fool-proof way to get front row seat, right? No.
First of all, my poor sister had to stay home sick today, battling fever and cold. So the plan altered a bit. Instead of us trying to get through at the same time, we decided she will make the call on her own, at home. So at 10 AM today, instead of dialing I was at work, covering our front desk since staff was having a meeting, twiddling with my thumbs, anxiously awaiting an update. Ten-thirty AM, sis leaves me a message saying she was still on hold. STILL ON HOLD? I finally talk to her a little after 11 AM and she tells me we got tickets. Yay! But the elusive center and front row seats were no longer available. Don’t get me wrong, we got great seats — row 8 or something on the section slightly to the right of the stage — but still we were a little bummed out that it wasn’t the best seat in the house.
It doesn’t matter anymore though cause we are going to see Keith Urban again. And if I have to bring the hotel room’s yellow pages to sit or stand on, I will just so I can get an unobstructed view of his live act this time. The anticipation for getting good tickets is over, now the wait for the show begins. What a great way to cap the year. Now I’m excited. Is it December yet?
Good thing there’s Matrix: Revolutions coming soon to keep me preoccupied between now and December. And yes precious, Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King happens just after Keith. Double, triple cheers!
Until next entry.
