Disposition: Calm
Listening: To the hum of my computer
Reading: Lord of the Rings (J.R.R. Tolkien)
Watching: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Obsessing: Karl Urban
Pondering: Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and quiet home! (Charles Dickens)
It’s Christmas evening and my world is quiet. Not a creature is stirring through the house save for myself and my sisters going about our normal evening routine. All the gifts have been opened at 12:30 this morning and the phone call to the folks at home have been made. We have gone to see The Return of the King for the third time and to cap our Christmas evening, ate dinner at a nearby Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant. Christmas this year came and passed quietly but hurriedly. The holiday season happened in a blink of an eye. There’s the New Year celebration next week but for all intent and purposes, the holiday season is over. We return to our normal day to day lives and await the coming of next year’s celebration.
It’s Christmas evening and the world is quiet outside. The temperature is freezing and the wind is breathing cold air. Christmas lights continue to sparkle in our neighbors’ backyards and the carols are still playing on the radio. A new year is beginning. New challenges are abound…and our old lives continue.
Happy Holidays to all!
