Yesterday was a long day of meetings and the afternoon was capped with a 2-hour Position Control class that was interesting but because it was at the end of the day, was very draining. It didn’t help that I was congested, sneezing and coughing throughout the class as I continue my battle with a sore throat that just won’t develop into a cold just yet. As I was headed out of the class and back to my desk for a last minute review of things before going home, I bumped into one of my officemates who, after seeing me look so miserable, gave me a single piece of daffodil from, I assume, his Daffodil Days order. And the flower - a bulb, really - looked just as miserable as me. I put it in a vase with a bit of water as I headed out thinking it would probably bloom by the end of the week, if not at all.

Well this morning, as I walk into my cubicle, the bright yellow thing was “smiling” at me! It has fully bloomed and its petals are wide-open, poised to gallantly face the day wherever it may lead. Amazing how one single beautiful flower can make a cluttered office like mine look peaceful. It is so charming and beautiful that I took picture of it using those handy Polaroid iZone instamatics.

The lovely thing now resides in the corner of my tiny cubicle where all of my non-work related items are housed. So lovely and amazing, all by itself.
