How I Spent My Long Weekend

March 29th, 2004 · No Comments

Disposition: Anxious
Listening: I Can’t Stop (Al Green)
Reading: Bourne Identity
Watching: Who Wouldn’t Want To Be Here
Obsessing: Eduardo Noriega
Pondering: Weekends don’t count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless. (Bill Watterson)

Thursday
I asked my boss for a sick-day and got it so I didn’t have to wake up early to rush to work. I started the day screaming at a T-Mobile billing representative who refused to see my point when she - and the rest of T-Mobile - was clearly incorrect with their billing. Not a good thing to do when your throat is soar and your chest congested. Later on in the morning, I find out that the world’s best goldfish, Curly, which resided in my mom’s aquarium, died a sad but peaceful death. (Read my sister’s epitaph for it.)

I took a nap around 2 PM, listening to my iPod and woke up with a terrible headache.

My dvdgo.com orders arrived mid noon. Prompt as ever! So in the evening, my sister and I watched Deseo, starring Leonardo Sbaraglia, another Hispanic actor who can rival the gorgeousness of Eduardo Noriega. I liked it though my sister didn’t quite enjoy it.

Friday
Karaoke time with my sister who scored a whopping 99 - highest score possible - with her rendition of The Carpenters’ Top of the World. Laugh out loud! I need to find me my own masterpiece song!

In the afternoon we watched Eduardo Noriega in Guerreros. Need I say more? Later in the evening, I tried to learn some Spanish using one of those Learn Spanish CDs. I can proudly say that I now know how to ask where the beach is in Spanish. ¿Donde esta la playa?

Saturday
Went to Curves first thing in the morning and did my required 30-minutes of circuit training exercise. It felt good afterwards. I wish I was more diligent in going to my workouts.

More karaoke! This time, my other sister Mercedes joined in the fun. We had a battle as to who can sing Desperado with the highest score. Sad to say, I lost by a point. I still have to find my winning masterpiece.

And the evening was all Keith Urban! He was this year’s artist for CMT’s annual spring break concert and he was jamming! Oozing with talent and charisma, he is such a joy to watch. And his music is so good. He is definitely more than just a pretty face. Safe to say, I slept that night with a smile on my face. Keith always makes me smile. Can’t wait to see him in August!

Sunday
Watched Keith’s concert at CMT again. Happy, happy! Then I watched Britney Spears’ concert in Showtime. Pity, pity! The girl, sadly, can’t sing. My sister and I were berating her for not singing live and when she did sing live, my eardrums nearly burst. No one should have to listen to Britney sing live!

The weekend ended with Alias, which dished out a great episode, for a change. Last night’s episode was like a throwback to the old days of Sydney-Vaughn spy adventures. Back when there was no love triangle and SD-6 was still the bad guy. I love this show, no matter how bad Season 3 has been.

So that was my weekend. Pretty unadventurous but relaxing nonetheless. Doing absolutely nothing important on a weekend is the best kind of weekend in my book!
