Pondering: My boy, one small breeze doesn’t make a wind storm. (John McGraw)
Arghh!!! The storm is at its peak! And as if things couldn’t get any worse, the block where our apartment unit is located is starting to flood! Our Spanish neighbors have to “swim” through the flood to get to their porch and on to their living room. Our porch might be next if the rain does not let up.
My sister and I decided to brave the weather and took a cab to Paseo del Carmen, Playa del Carmen’s shopping center. There wasn’t much to see or buy but it allowed for time to pass a little faster than it was back in the hotel room. I did manage to purchase two kinds of unique Playa del Carmen pencils for the pod-mates back at work so that was a good thing. Afterwards we took a cab back to the hotel, got overcharged (40 pesos vs. the suggested 25 pesos!) and spent the rest of the afternoon indoors, reading and hoping for the rain to ease and the sun to finally smile on us.
Note: Dinners here in Shangri-la Caribe are always fun and lazy, sans the required walk in the rain to get to it…
