Hugs and Kisses, My Friend

Reading: The Club Dumas
Listening: Abre Los Ojos Soundtrack
Pondering: Without friends the world is but a wilderness. (Francis Bacon)

I received an email from a friend today who I haven’t heard from for the longest time. Her message hinted of some trying and stressful relations brewing in her life, the stress of motherhood and married life seem to be taking its toll on her and her husband but she also exuberantly tells me that she has finally enrolled for the masteral program she’s been wanting to take, that she got a part time job as a teacher and that her daughter - my godchild - is two years old and getting more charming and witty every day.

After reading her email, I realized how much I miss her and how much she’s changed from the fun-loving, restless girl I knew from high school and college. I wish I could give her a hug right now and show her my support at whatever decision she makes as she arrives at this crossroad in her life. But as we are oceans apart, as we are on different sides of the world, I could only show her my support by email. I sent her best attempts at “words of wisdom” which I hope would somehow comfort her.

To my friend, hugs and kisses. Take care of you.
