Watching: Without A Trace (Season 1)
Pondering: I realize that when I met you at the turkey curry buffet, I was unforgivably rude, and wearing a reindeer jumper. (Mark Darcy, Bridget Jones’ Diary)
I went to the theater by myself today and caught the first showing of Bridget Jones’ Diary: The Edge of Reason. I’m not usually comfortable watching a movie by myself, scary thoughts run through my head when I do so. But I felt so safe when I walked into the theater and saw that it was filled with either senior couples or thirty-something singles like me. No noisy kids, no irritating couples. Just a bunch of women eager for some chic-flick movie on a gorgeous Friday morning. It was a peaceful 1 hour and 47 minutes. Peaceful and enjoyable.
Miss Jones (Renee Zelwegger) was her usual quirky self and Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) was his usual cute and snobbish self. The movie sure wasn’t better than the first — I think first chapters are always more enjoyable because you are just meeting the characters — but it was just as hilarious and Bridget Jones’ antics are just as crazy and embarassing. Oh yes, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) is back too and he’s still an arse hole.
When the movie ended, I rushed to Suncoast to get a Colin fix in the form of Pride and Prejudice. The salesgirl, a fellow Colin-fan laughed when I told her what torture it was for me to sit through What A Girl Wants just to see Colin Firth but that seeing him in leather pants was worth all the torture. The nice girl made me realize how many more Colin Firth movies I’ve yet to watch.
Anyway, back to Bridget Jones and her love story and mishaps. She wonderfully summed it all up at the end when she said happy endings do happen. “It happens even when you’re 33 and has a bottom the size of two bowling balls.â€
So true…

I loved the first one sooooooo much better than the second, but it was still pretty good, eh? I love Colin.
I saw him in another that I thought was good this week. You’ll have to rent it if you haven’t already seen it. It’s called My Life So Far. Take a look out on IMDB if you don’t recognize the title. Colin plays this wonderful quirky inventor and he’s so cute. Well, not always, but I love him anyway. I’m feeling the need for another P&P fix. I think I may need that DVD set for Christmas.
