Listening: Keane
Pondering: Going to work for a large company is like getting on a train. Are you going sixty miles an hour or is the train going sixty miles an hour and you’re just sitting still? (John Paul Getty)
I am taking the train to work for the first time after a long time. Though I’m not sure if I’m on the right train to Redwood City on account that I don’t have a fully functioning watch and don’t know which train on the time schedule I am in, I’m totally enjoying this experience. Tom Chaplin - Keane’s cherub-looking lead singer with the most beautiful, soulful voice - is singing in my ear about being snowed-under. I just hope I’m on the right train since I am late as it already is.
I am passing by familiar places as Tom asks, “oh simple thing, where have you gone? I’m getting old and I need something to rely on,†and I am reminded of my early days in America, when I used to take the bus and train to work every morning while the rest of the world was still waking up from their dreams. Life seemed simpler then though I’m sure it wasn’t. I don’t remember having then the worries I have now though I’m sure I worried about different things then, I just can’t remember them anymore. A hopeful thing cause that means ten years from now, my current worries will be no more.
We’re at the Burlingame stop and a bunch of athletic high school kids are now getting on the train. I am smiling because theya lways used to be in my train too. They are all different kids now, those I rode with in the past have probably graduated college, but the sight of these new kids brings back so much memories of my numerous lonely train rides.
I should try and ride the train to work more often to simplify my mornings once in awhile. I am really enjoying this.

I was hooked on Keith Urban’s CD and couldn’t stop listening to it until Keane upstaged the guitarist from down-under. Now I can’t stop humming “Can’t Stop Now.”

And isn’t it weird how Keith is the guitar god and how Keane doesn’t have a guitarist?

Myr - yeah isn’t that a good thing? This way we don’t have to split loyalties.

*sigh* I adore Keane. I’m really hooked on that CD. Of course, I’m finally able to listen to something ELSE right now so I guess I’ve moved beyond the total addiction stage. phew! I didn’t know that I would ever reach that point.
