Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane turned twenty nine this week. Happy Birthday to the guy who wrote one of the saddest lines in a song I’ve heard in a while:
“Don’t know your thoughts these days. We’re strangers in an empty space. I don’t understand your heart. It’s easier to be apart.†(We Might As Well Be Strangers, Rice-Oxley/Chaplin/Hughes)
And what about the lovely Sunshine? Makes you want to fall in love. Really, this guy is a musical genius!

that’s all i can say really. i admire the man so much that it’s hard to find the words to express my appreciation.
“sunshine” has got to be the one of the best songs i’ve ever heard in my lifetime.

i, too, can remember how i made a fool of myself in front of tim. i think all i could manage to mumble was, “thanks for playing ’snowed under’ tonight” while looking helplessly sheepish. for some reason, i can’t seem to remember what transpired after that.

I chuckle everytime I remember what I said to him when I met him. “You are amazing,” I say. He smiles. Mumbles a thank you. Shakes my hand. “Will you sign my ticket?” STUPID follow-up, don’t you think?
