Pondering: The moon is at her full and riding high, floods the calm fields with light. The airs that hover in the summer sky are all asleep to-night. (William C. Bryant)
Listening to: Sitting, Waiting, Wishing (Jack Johnson)
Summer is six days old and I’m already getting restless, wishing I were somewhere close to a beach, lounging on a hammock, reading a very good book and listening to Coldplay (X & Y), Keane (Hopes and Fears) and Travis (Singles) on repeat mode. The early summer heat is beginning to bother me, it hurts my head, changes my mood to that of irritable, and makes me want to just daydream about being away on a cruise. Summer is just not my season.
What have I been up to these last six days? Let’s see:
* CDs bought: Three. Backstreet Boys’ Never Gone, Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill – Acoustic, and Travis’ Good Feeling.
* iTunes Purchases: Lots, including all Coldplay B-sides and non-album tracks, Kelly Clarkson’s Behind These Hazel Eyes (can’t stop humming this silly song) and Tori Amos’ so-so cover version of Sir Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats’ I Don’t Like Mondays.
* Number of hit and miss iPod power charger purchases: Two. That means four trips to Target, twice to purchase (the wrong kind) and twice to return merchandise.
* Books read: one. Pathetic! And I’m not even done yet. I am currently reading David Wolstencroft’s Good News, Bad News. I bought this at Heathrow Airport last month but didn’t start reading until lately. Very interesting!
* Planned trips to see Keane, live: Three. I will see them first at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. A few days later, I’m going to catch their show at the House of Blues in San Diego and then the Greek Theater in LA. Despite how it sounds, I am not a groupie…just an avid fan.
* Number of times I’ve seen the ending (never the beginning) of the movie Monster: Two.
* New movie added to my favorites: Punch-Drunk-Love. I don’t even like Adam Sandler but I really enjoyed this movie. Must own the DVD.
* New favorite drinks: Two. Starbucks’ Lemonade Iced Tea (Passion Flavor) and Surf City Squeeze’s Pineapple/Strawberry Slush (thanks, Myra!).
* New favorite junk food: Oishi Ribbed Cracklings Salt and Vinegar. Run to your nearest oriental store and find it if you plan to have a beer party.
* Anticipations: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (in 20 days!!!!) and VH1’s coverage of Live 8.
* Number of new office mates: Three. One of them is my sister. Yes, we now work together. Oh, joy!
Phew, I’ve been busy these last six days!
