Little by little, one travels far.

Wotcher, Harry!

Pondering: The hardest thing is not to be able to work magic for a friend. (Maya V. Patel)

I finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and my guesses for who the half-blood prince was and who died in the story were all incorrect. I am still spinning from its ending. I honestly didn’t expect the half-blood prince to be who it turned out to be and worst, I don’t think I’ll ever get over the death of one of my most favorite characters in the series. I mean, Sirius Black was not a favorite character but I’m still mourning his death from Book 5. I still keep hoping he’ll return to the series and maybe replace Nearly Headless Nick or something.

Now we have one more book to wait and already, I am already having withdrawals. The thought of J.K. Rowling releasing the seventh and last book is really exciting but at the same time sad. All these questions swirl in my mind…What are we going to do when Harry Potter graduates from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? What book will create such a cult following next? Will it have the same amiable, brave character like Harry and his equally charming band of friends and teachers? Will we ever have another book, which has the same unique flavor that can capture both young and old alike? Will it be another smash hit that will encourage kids – and adults – to read once more?

I’m with you on each statement in here, Lisa. I was totally blown away by the death, and by the HBP. I was up in Grand Marais, Minnesota last week with a few other bloggers and Jenorama and I were going to discuss our theories for book 7, but never got around to it when Marge wasn’t with us (She hadn’t read book 6 yet and we didn’t want to give anything away).

I’m hoping to email with her and hear her views on things because I’m hoping for some happier times in book 7 to offset some of the stuff that has happened along the way. :(

I commented here a while back about this post, but it seems to have never made it. I wonder if this one will? I can’t remember exactly what I said, other than I had about the same feelings as you - total sadness about the “expired” character (I actually cried through the last few paragraphs). Surprise (sad surprise, actually) about who the HBP turned out to be. I read it far too fast, as usual because now I’m going to be waiting around forever for the last one (Can it really BE the last one???).

Wasn’t that just the most shocking end? I mean, it was shocking to me. I can hardly wait to see how it all ends. We all know it’s not the end of the HBP and the dead wizard right? In Harry’s world, nothing is ever the way it seems.
