Pondering: All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. (Martin Luther King, Jr.)
Listening to: Different People (No Doubt)
It’s day two of my long weekend here in Las Vegas and so far…
…I have talked to an unabashed bigot of a taxi driver who despised blacks and the liberalism of California. I somehow knew bigots exist, I just never thought I’d ever have to talk to one.
…I have slept in the most luxurious goose down bed outside of Vancouver. Yes, the Wynn Hotel’s beddings surely rivals that of my most favorite hotel ever, the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver. It’ll be difficult going back to my old bed after this
…I have shopped the outlet shops and bought me a couple of tops to go with my office suits, a bag and some other unimportant stuff. Amazingly, no new pair of shoes. I always buy new shoes at the outlet stores but not this time.
…I have showered watching news of what’s going on in New Orleans. Damn, having a plasma TV in the bathroom can be addicting!
…I have lost $25 on stupid slot machines that never smile on me.
…I have fallen asleep watching the cheesy Stardust Hotel marquee change colors, the Circus Circus neon sign flashing and endless Las Vegas traffic going about.

I stayed at the home of a serious bigot for a couple of days many years ago. I could NOT BELIEVE the things that came out of that man’s mouth. And I couldn’t wait to get away from him. It amazed me. It really opened my eyes at the time because I really had no clue that people like him existed in the world in that day and age (it was 1985).
So I know of what you speak!
