Nothing In My Way

Pondering: For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you’re having such a nice time. (Tim Rice-Oxley)
Listening to: This Way (Jewel)

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am crazy about the band Keane. I absolutely love their music and I’m addicted to seeing them in concert. And in case you haven’t figured it out either, I went on a little SoCal weekend trip to catch the guys before they hibernate for the year to record the next album.

Last Thursday, September 29 I stood for hours outside the House of Blues in San Diego to catch their gig. The show was standing room only so I had to be there early (as in 3-hours-before-the-gate-opened early) to get a good spot, being as I am vertically challenged. The wait paid off because darling! I was front row and center! Yes, prime spot with unobstructed views of Tom Chaplin (lead vocals), Richard Hughes (drums) and Tim Rice-Oxley (piano). Loved it!

On Friday, September 30, I caught their performance at the Greek Theater in LA. This was the last show of the tour in support of the first album, Hopes and Fears. The LA crowd was awesome and me, I was on a high throughout the evening as the Santa Ana winds blew, the stars twinkled, the piano tinkled, the drums pounded and Tom crooned.

Then this afternoon, I stood in the sun to catch their free performance at the Hollywood and Highland mall in Hollywood. I mustered the nerve to call out (scream out, really) Tim’s name and waive at him when he looked up. I’m still blushing from my dorkiness.

Well, it was a Keane-filled weekend and I am stoked!

A free concert? Oh yeah. I’d have been there. Lucky.

    Silly dork. Lucky though. ;)
