Pondering: Unless we make Christmas an occasion to share our blessings, all the snow in Alaska won’t make it “white”. (Bing Crosby)
Listening to: Gravity (Embrace)
It’s nearly Christmas. In a few hours, it will be midnight and my family will gather around the dining room and have our traditional noche buena – or midnight Christmas dinner. Mom has prepared a meal of pasta and ribs, fresh vegetable wrap and a host of other food to chow down. Afterwards, we will open our gifts, chat about Christmases gone by and go to sleep.
It’s not a cold Christmas this year. We’ve just come off a storm, so the weather is kind of warm and muggy. I’ve been sitting here in bed watching a marathon of Bravo’s Project Runway, the Yule Log, Coldplay’s Live DVD and now while writing this, A Christmas Story is playing on TBS. I wish it were colder and cozier as I continue to cuddle here in bed as I wait for midnight.
I bought a new pair of pajamas to celebrate Christmas – and also because I intend to sleep in tomorrow if my bothersome cough and cold would allow me. I have been battling this tightness in my chest, throat and nostril for a few days now and I want to have a good “morning†sleep later on.
Well all the craziness surrounding the holidays is coming to its near-end. All the gifts have been wrapped, waiting to be opened under the tree. All the Christmas cards have been written and mailed. No more Christmas party planning. Soon it’ll be time to bid this year goodbye and the New Year hello. How fast the year has gone by…
