There and Back Again

There’s been a re-organization in the agency I work for. In six months time, we will no longer be a department comprised of 6 almost-non-related divisions. We will now be simply called the Human Resources Department, reporting directly to a deputy CEO for administration.

To top it all, our Director retired 3 weeks ago and although she will be back to work as extra help for awhile, we all know that she has left us all behind. The lady retired in style, under a beautiful dome, and surrounded by her managers and staff – present and past – and all the big wigs of the agency. Her speech was simple and witty and when she closed by thanking us and saying how much she loved us all, I got all choked up. She will be difficult to replace.
