Listening to: One Caress (Depeche Mode)
Pondering: The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny. (Albert Ellis)
I woke up early this morning – early for a Saturday, I mean - and the worries and stress of buying a house crept back in my mind. I put a bid on a property in the city yesterday and left it to fate; what will be, will be. When I woke up this morning I realized that part of me wanted this deal so much to come through…and a little part of me was worried about what will happen when it comes through.
To divert my mind off the thought, I strapped on my head phones to listen to music and hopefully doze back to sleep. The first song to play was Corrine Bailey Rae’s Put Your Records On. I’m not big on the song but the lyrics put a smile on my face and tears to my eyes, and I don’t even know why…
Three little birds, sat on my window
And they told me I don’t need to worry.
Summer came like cinnamon, so sweet,
Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.
Maybe sometimes, we got it wrong, but it’s alright.
The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same
Oh, don’t you hesitate.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song,
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.
Blue as the sky, sombre and lonely,
Sipping tea in the bar by the road side,
(just relax, just relax)
Don’t you let those other boys fool you,
Gotta love that afro hairdo.
Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it’s alright.
The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.
Don’t you think it’s strange?
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song,
You go ahead, let your hair down.
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.
Just more than I could take, pity for pity’s sake
Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger
When you gonna realize, that you don’t even have to try any longer.
Do what you want to.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song,
You go ahead, let your hair down.
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
Oh, You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

A few hours ago, I heard from my realtor. The bid did not go through as cleanly as I thought it would. And I am back to square one. Oh well, c’est la vie.
