Of London and Shopping

Pondering: The quickest way to know a woman is to go shopping with her. (Marcelene Cox)

The bad thing about London is the shopping. You can’t resist it. It’s in every corner. And the weirdest thing for me about shopping in London is that they always (always!) have my size, be it shoes or clothes. Fourth day here in London - well, third because day one doesn’t really count - and I’ve already purchased a few knick-knacks here and there. Take a look.

The shoes are the most comfortable and probably the priciest purchase to date. I can walk miles with this pair.

The Next sweater feels like cashmere but is not. It’s very comfortable and will go very well with my skirts.

The Cool 2 Brittania DVD is something I have been looking for in awhile now. This compilation of live performances include Coldplay, Keane, Snow Patrol, Badly Drawn Boy and Embrace, among others.

The postcards are souvenirs from my visit to Stonehenge and Bath yesterday.

The box of lavender incense is from Bath too. It’s my sister Mercedes’ favorite, I think.

The pencils are for my pod-mates at work: Anne, Lisa O, Myra and Teresa. It’s a vacation tradition started many years ago.

Martin Gore’s Counterfeit 2 album has been on my wish list for a while now. Finally found it at HMV. Coolest thing about finding it? I didn’t have to go to the G section to find Gore. Here they have three racks of Depeche Mode cds and on the third row they have Depeche Mode: David Gahan, Depeche Mode: Martin Gore and Depeche Mode: Alan Wilder. Isn’t that cool? I only had to go to one rack find all of the guys solo projects.

Finally, I have been waiting ages for Without A Trace, Season 2 to come out on DVD. This is one of my favorite TV shows and there’s no news on what that will happen. But here in the UK, they’ve already released 3 seasons of DVD. Alas, I can only afford one season as it is pricey, but maybe I’ll go back before I go home and spend the money on season 3.

Well that’s about it, so far. I’m sure by the end of this week, there will be more. I can’t altogether avoid the shopping malls, you know. Heck, I haven’t even bought books yet!
