Song in my head: Once in a Lifetime (Keith Urban)
Pondering: Work is a necessity for man. Man invented the alarm clock. (Pablo Picasso)
Today - or more like these last few weeks - has been just hellish. It’s been awhile since I’ve had weeks at work like this. I mean work is always busy but this time is just different, just ugly! The events and the recruitments of the past few weeks have just drained me and I am mentally tired. I usually like my job, but ask me today and I’d say I wish I were working elsewhere.
October has arrived, my favorite month of the year; and autumn has officially arrived, my favorite season of the year. I didn’t get to savor the arrival of both, however and it looks like I might not enjoy them at all this year. The hectic demands of work will make sure I don’t, it feels like it.
Plus I am moving to my first ever house next month and I haven’t even had the chance to contemplate the impact of this change in my life! I should go out and start looking for my new bedroom set, or thinking about color palettes for my new room but I have been so tired during the weekends that all I ever do is stay home, watch movies and catch up on some reading. I’m even too tired to update my blog or surf the web.
The one true joy I have of late though is Depeche Mode. Isn’t that weird? Anything DM-related brings a smile to my face. Last week, my sisters and I went to see Touring the Angel - Live From Milan on the big screen. It was a wonderful way to unwind indeed. It made me forget all the worries at work!
Watching the concert on the big screen brought back so much memories of the Shoreline concert we went to earlier this year. The crowd in the theater in Emeryville, CA was in such a jovial mood so that the atmosphere in the theater was almost like being in a live concert. We were singing and jamming as if the band was performing live in front of us. We screamed every time David Gahan shook his booty like he always does or when he twirls around the stage just like he used to 20-some years ago. And Martin L. Gore - dear Martin, he is my hero!
Next month they are coming out with a new single and “best of” CD and I’m happy just thinking about it. At least I have something to look forward to.
In the meantime though, I toil away through this week, trying to stay sane and positive that all this craziness will soon be over.
