Listening to: One Caress (Depeche Mode)
Pondering: If you don’t know what you want, you end up with a lot you don’t. (Chuck Palahniuk)
I’ve just finished watching the second series of the Forsyte Saga a PBS Masterpiece Theater from a few years back. I rather enjoyed this series more so than the first series. I like that the flawed characters of Soames and Irene were redeemed in the end. It was closure in the best sense of the word. (Hopefully, I have not ruined the story for those who have yet to watch.)
In both series one and two, I rooted deeply for the character of Soames Forsyte, played beautifully by the lovely and amazing Damian Lewis. Soames is really a pathetic soul, so unable to articulate his feelings and consumed by unrequited love and yet you feel his pain and his regrets that you start hoping for something to redeem him in the end despite his wretchedness.
I think if you are like me, you will find the ending gratifying and worth the wait.
