Little by little, one travels far.

Gone Doing Nothin’

Pondering: In a real dark night of the soul it is always three o’clock in the morning, day after day. (F. Scott Fitzgerald)

Today I took a day off and I did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I popped open my laptop and disappeared into the World Wide Web for the rest of the morning. I searched for information on anything and anyone that caught my fancy. It was actually boring after awhile but for the first few hours, it was total bliss.

When I managed to peel myself away from my laptop, I had a ridiculously unhealthy lunch of hotdog and chips. Yeah, I was that lazy. Then I watched the Inspector Linley episode I recorded from last night’s PBS Mystery. The Inspector Linley TV series is based of course on Elizabeth George’s novels, which I just started reading. I’m disappointed that the actor playing Linley is not exactly whom I had in mind but after awhile he grew on me. The actress playing Sergeant Havers though was exactly how I imagined she would be.

I watched a bit of TV after that and then I went for a two-mile walk, just my iPod and me. May I just say how refreshing it was to walk to the tune of How to Save A Life by The Fray? Made me think of all my friends, old and new, as I walked with the wind from bay slapping me in the back. I then went home, cooked dinner and watched some more TV.

Now that’s my kind of holiday. I only wish it was longer.
