Another year, another visit to Las Vegas and another conference over. Every year, I thank one of our system vendors for hosting their conference in Las Vegas and thereby giving me - and my sister - an excuse to go to Las Vegas. When we get there we make no plans, take each day as it comes, which is definitely the best way to spend a holiday. And oh yes, we always do visit the Premium Outlet shops. We’ve learned to love that place so much.

Anyway, the conference this year was just like last year, a little better though. It’s amazing to see how much the company has grown over the years. Why, I remember when they only had 4 agencies under their belt. Now they had to rent a whole ballroom to accommodate us all, and even that was crammed and crowded.

This year, the discussion topics were more interesting and they had really exciting new ideas, new enhancements and new features that I’m excited to implement in our group. If I get the promotion I am hoping for, then maybe I’ll have more opportunities to implement these changes.

It was also good to see an old friend of mine, Debbie who, in my opinion is absolutely an epitome of professionalism and the Hawaiian spirit. She comes to the conference every year too and it is our chance to catch up on things, life and even work. She is truly one of the genuinely nice people I know and one of the smartest too. I value her advice and wisdom greatly.

Next year, I hope to go again but it will all depend on the final outcome of our new department structure. I could have a new supervisor by end of this year, or I could be working in a different capacity. It will all depend on my final interview next week.

I may have to start thinking of a new excuse to go to Vegas…
